DAY 2 18/12/2015

I begin by saying how well I slept last night. Sofitel has amazing mattresses and great pillows. So I didn't have to choose a different pillow off the pillow menu. I also have to make a special mention to how great the aircon is in the room. I will show you photos of our room. We booked a normal room and got upgraded to a plunge pool room.

Today was our day at leisure and we began it with breakfast. This buffet is located at the bottom of the atrium of the hotel. It was called the Kwee Zeen, and it was very large, with lots of seating. But the one flaw was there was very little seating that was air-conditioned, but as the hotel had a very low occupancy we always got seated in aircon.

We were very impressed with the buffet, hence our gleaming smiles!
I will now show you the wide arrange of selections that we had in the buffet.

Western Hot Section

Asian Food Section

Curry Dishes

Hot desserts

Cold Meats

Cold Dishes

Salads
Noodles that you could order fresh.

What we were most impressed with was the christmas decorations around everywhere! Especially the two story gingerbread house. This was in the impressive bakery section.

Natural local flavoured juices, along with the cereal section.

A favourite with us was the freshly squeezed juices.
Children's Section.

We found every dish in the buffet to be of top quality and tasted amazing. They include all hot beverages, so we were served cappuccinos that were great. We found the service to be excellent, with the staff speaking very good english, and seem to have many years of experience. We then went exploring the Resort. Little touches like the Christmas tree in the middle, make all the difference.

We loved this!

We found this resort to be very modern and very luxurious. It felt more like a luxury holiday away then a balinese destination. But boy oh boy were we impressed. The pools were all centred around the two accommodation wings. We went for a swim after breakfast and found the water to be very warm and comfortable. There weren't many cabanas so you have to make sure your clothes or room key is kept safe under towels. You're probably wondering about the humidity, to me it isn't as bad as I thought it would be. There seams to be a great sea breeze here in Nusa Dua, which makes it comfortable. Plus your body gets used to it after a few minutes.

In the afternoon we went for happy hour (2pm to 4pm) which was at their pool bar. we both enjoyed two great cocktails and some fresh wedges.

After a while we moved out to their beach bar to continue our great afternoon. There my brother and dad enjoyed a Heineken and I had a fresh coconut. We enjoyed the atmosphere there along with the chats that we had with passing tourists.

We then enjoyed a relaxing afternoon, before showering for dinner. We enjoyed seeing the resort all lit up at night, even the christmas tree was lit up!! We had a choice between the buffet and the alacarte restaurant for dinner, we chose the alacarte Eat Catch Cucina Restaurant. They even had live entertainment in there! Daniel and I chose the 5 course meal whereas our parents chose to order alacarte.

Artisan Bread with balinese sauces
Scallops and Tomato Ragu
Fresh Snapper with herb crust
Cucumber Sorbet
Balinese style pork ribs
Orange Pannacotta

Overall our dinner here was excellent, as every dish was great, and it all flowed well to tell a great story of the Balinese Cuisine, fresh seafood and the french cuisine. The only thing lacking was the service, if i could go back in time, i'd dine in the buffet.
