Azamara Quest

Azamara Quest

The Azamara Quest is a special ship, as in it holds a very few number of passengers at 686. Especially when you compare it to other ships doing a similar itinerary, that hold over 2000 passengers.

The Azamara Quest started its life as R7, which was the 7th of 8 identical cruise ships for a cruise line called Renaissance Cruises. They were a boutique cruise line that made many radical changes including, no smoking on board, no kids and no travel agents for bookings! That in combination with a very quick expansion plan, of building 8 ships over 3 years led to poor finances. 911 was the nail in the coffin for them and on the 25th of November 2001 they went bankrupt. That led to all their ships being seized by creditors and they were sold off at a cheap cost. Princess bought 3, Royal caribbean got 2 and Oceania got the remaining 3.

Azamara Club Cruises began its life in 2007. And over time president Larry Pimentel has found the perfect niche for Azamara. That is destination immersion cruising, where they stay longer in ports. By doing this I believe they have been successful in differentiating themselves. Each cruise they have no formal nights and they have an AzAmazing evening where there is a show ashore. Each of our cruises has an amazing evening:

28 December 2015 - AzAmazing Evening at Crocosaurus Cove

13 January 2016 - AzAmazing Evening at Fort Scratchley
